Okay. I've been doing a lot of praying lately. I've also been rethinking a lot of things I was set on. If you've been paying attention the past couple years, you know that there are many voices telling us we are in the Last Days, or the End Times. I have agreed with that and have been doing several things to "prepare". Some are the physical (food, water, weapons, etc), some has been spiritual. But God has a way of showing us a different way. It's generally safe to say, His way is the best.
It started with a local church having a week long prayer meeting in a couple of days. I've been attending there the past few weeks - sort of spying out the land - to see if it might be a place for me and my family. I am at a place in my walk with God where I am dry. I need more of Him. I have spent the past 9 years learning the Hebraic Roots of my faith. This blog and my YouTube channel of the same name (Return to Yehovah) arose because of that learning. My understanding of God and His Ways has grown. My love for my heavenly Father has grown. My faith in Yeshua/Jesus my Messiah has grown a ton! So why am I dry??
I had several of my own ideas and some were good, but I kept seeking - wanting more. I decided to pull out a book I had purchased a few years ago: Pentecostal Pioneers Remembered by Keith Malcomson. This had been a blessing to me when I first read through it, and it was and is again to me now. You can look it up on www.pentecostalpioneers.org.
Keith is affiliated with the School of Christ, International - http://www.schoolofchristinternational.com/
His book is almost like an encyclopedia of some of the great men and women of God who helped to pioneer the pentecostal movement with his focus mainly on British and Irish pioneers. He discusses some prior leaders like William Booth, D.L. Moody, Hudson Taylor and A.B. Simpson. Then comes the Welsh Revival (1904) and the Los Angeles Outpouring (1906) - aka- Azusa Street. From there, he goes into the lives of several pioneers. Each has an amazing story of the working of God through them. Some you have heard of, some maybe not. Here are some of the names: T.B. Barratt, A.A. Boddy, Cecil Polhill, Arthur Booth-Clibborn, Thomas Myerscough, Smith Wigglesworth, and many more. Two of my favorties are Stephen Jeffreys and his brother George Jeffeys. Both were amazing men of God.
So what is my point? In reading how God worked in the lives of these men, I was not only thrilled and amazed, but jealous for God to work like that again. The more I read, the more I noticed a common thread. Almost all of the pioneers had their ministries either preceded by a great Revival or some just had their ministries greatly infused with POWER!
All of them were focused on one main thing: the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Yes, they were new in the Pentecostal Movement and all preached the need for the Baptism of the Holy Ghost for power in ministry. All of them had their "Pentecost experience" and all saw the Spirit of God do amazing things - thousands were saved, healed, and filled with the Spirit of God. The kingdom of God was greatly enlarged during these years. I could go on and on but I hope you get the point. If not, get the book and read for yourself. Our God does amazing things through people who will let Him.
Then it finally hit me. God used Revival to birth all sorts of ministries. There were evangelists, pastors, missionaries and more. These were just regular people. The supernatural God baptized them with the Holy Ghost and fire and they went out to change the world. Two world wars didn't seem to both these pioneers. They traveled across Britain, Europe and much of the world. It's as if God works in spite of what nations are doing. He's not stopped by world wide wars. As long as there are men and women willing to give their lives for the Gospel, God will make a way.
My desire is now changed. My decision to prepare for the End Times has too. I am praying for Revival. That will be the focus of my prayers from now on (Lord willing). It is that important. I'm just one man, I don't claim to have great power in prayer, but I can pray. Hopefully whoever reads this will decide that they too can pray. Pray for Revival. Whatever your area, pray God will pour out His Spirit on it. Pray He will save thousands of your friends, family and neighbors. When Revival comes, be ready to offer Him your life. There is NO reason God can't do even mightier works than He did during the last great Revivals! I don't know when it will come. I don't know how it will come. But if we pray fervently and expectantly I believe God will answer.
I don't know about you, but I NEED this. Rather than wait for God to judge our sinful wretched nation, how about ask him to turn things around on the devil? I heard Reinhard Bonnke say a couple times - "let's plunder Hell and populate Heaven"! Judgment can always come on America. Lets ask God to delay that while we have Revival and save millions for Jesus ! Just a thought. Anybody want to pray?
Your brother,
Gregg
I love that! I think this is the complete restoration of the remnant. Those who keep the commandments, have the testimony of Yeshua AND have the power of the Holy Spirit. I think we will see many more people in the Hebrew Roots, and the Messianic circles realize that. Won;t that be awesome!

ReplyDeleteI have read a few of the authors you mentioned, along with John G. Lake and others. I too pray for a "Great Awakening" a manifest harvest into the Kingdom of God. Blessings, Kasey
