The
Coming Three Days and Three Nights
Of Darkness
Okay, NO, I am not
trying to jump on the band wagon of the 3 Days and nights of darkness. If you are on YT much at all, you have seen
multiple videos about it. There are a
lot of people who claim to have heard from God about this and they have a
variety of things to say. I have no
doubt that there are some real, legitimate people who have heard from God and
are passing on messages from Him.
I am not here to
tell you who to listen to and who not.
But while reading a post about this on another site I came across
something that surprised me.
Whenever something
like this is prophesied by people –
especially by a lot of people – it is prudent to see where this is found in
scripture. Here are the three places I
knew of, and after them I will add the fourth – which was the surprise.
Exodus 10:21 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch
out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt,
darkness which may even be felt." 22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward
heaven, and there was thick darkness in
all the land of Egypt three days. 23 They did not see one another; nor did
anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had
light in their dwellings.
Jonah 1:14 Therefore they cried out to the LORD and
said, "We pray, O LORD, please do not let us perish for this man's life,
and do not charge us with innocent blood; for You, O LORD, have done as it
pleased You." 15 So they picked up Jonah and threw him into
the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging. 16 Then the men feared the LORD
exceedingly and offered a sacrifice to the LORD and took vows. 17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to
swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the
belly of the fish three days and three nights.
Matthew 12:38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees
answered, saying, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You." 39 But He answered and said to them, "An
evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to
it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 "For as Jonah was three days and
three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the
heart of the earth.”
Now for the
surprise (for me anyway). I should have
known this, but somehow forgot about it.
Acts 9:1 Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the
disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked letters from him to
the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way,
whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. 3 As he journeyed,
he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a
voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" 5 And
he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus,
whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads." 6
So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to
do?" Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you
will be told what you must do." 7 And the men who journeyed with him stood
speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. 8 Then Saul arose from the
ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the
hand and brought him into Damascus. 9 And he
was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
The only thing
missing for me would have been if it appeared in the Book of the Revelation.
Revelation 16:10 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl
on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they
gnawed their tongues because of the pain. 11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because
of their pains and their sores and did not repent of their deeds.
I realize it does
not say 3 days and 3 nights, or even just 3 days, but it is darkness.
I am NOT saying
that this is the only thing that the prophecies could be talking about because
it is shown to be in the future.
I am not making
any judgment about the prophecies one way or the other. We each have to go to Yehovah in prayer to
see if they are real – if we are even interested in them.
